TTU SPARK Program

The TTU SPARK program allows German students the opportunity to build a unique relationship with schools in the Lubbock area, the students which attend them, and their families. Being a part of the SPARK program not only allows you to grow these relationships and community bonds, but strengthens your academic and professional abilities as well. During the program, you will work with a small team of other German students to create your own lesson plans, lead your own class, immerse yourself in German culture, and make a lasting impact on local kids. All of these tasks will help strengthen your resume and build up your soft skills. These skills include: communication, leadership, listening, problem solving, time management, interpersonal skills, greater understanding of different cultures, and so many more.

Which courses include SPARK?

Several different German classes include participation in SPARK, and depending on the semester, you will have different options for how to participate in SPARK. For intermediate German students, there is a regular SPARK component in at least one German 2301 and/or German 2302 section each semester. Check with your current German professor for specific information. If you would like a German minor or major and need a 4000-level class, we've got you covered!  It is also possible to take German 4335, Internship to German, which focuses on SPARK. To find out more about this course see the section below and stop by Dr. McChesney's office in CMLL 204 to find out when it is being offered and how to join.
